Kay and Tam combine their technical expertise and creative vision to form the foundation of Kay & Tam. The pair met while studying at the University of Manitoba and officially launched their business in 2022.
What started with painting murals for community spaces like the Salvation Army and Church of the Rock quickly grew into residential painting projects. From there, the business expanded naturally into home renovations, interior design, and landscaping, bringing their creativity and craftsmanship both indoors and outdoors.
Today, Kay & Tam continues to evolve, also launching an online home décor shop featuring original art prints and wallpaper designs that reflect their distinctive style.
And this is only the beginning. Kay & Tam are committed to continuing to grow, create, and transform spaces in exciting new ways.
Kay holds a Bachelor of Arts in Labour Studies with a minor in Geography from the University of Manitoba. His background emphasizes workplace safety, project management, and the systems that ensure work is done efficiently and responsibly. Today, that passion for safe and well-managed projects is reflected in how he oversees every renovation and construction detail.
Kay’s connection to building started early. As a child, he watched craftsmen in Cotonou work on tile installations and construction projects for his father’s hotel—an experience that sparked his interest in building and renovation from a young age. Combined with his background in graphic design, Kay brings both technical precision and creative perspective to every project.
As Founder and General Contractor, he leads projects with strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and a commitment to quality.
Tam studied Fine Arts with a focus on Graphic Design at the University of Manitoba. Her artistic training naturally evolved into a passion for interior design and thoughtful home transformation.
From a young age, Tam was exposed to art, architecture, and culture through travel across countries such as Italy, France, Netherlands, Germany, and Gabon. Experiencing historic cities, palaces, and diverse design traditions helped shape the artistic perspective she already possessed, deepening her appreciation for beauty, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design.
With a refined eye for colour, texture, and composition, Tam brings a sophisticated creative perspective to every space. As Co-Founder and Design Director, she leads the design vision, crafting interiors that feel elevated, intentional, and timeless.
